The United Women in Faith is collecting #6 Styrofoam for recycling the fourth Sunday of every month. We will be taking them to AGILYX in Tigard, OR. They will take all forms of clean polystyrene including Styrofoam for recycling. Polystyrene plastic is found expanded into foam products such as: coffee cups block packaging coffee creamer shells to-go containers meat trays anything clean marked with # 6 or “PS” stamp. wine-tasting cups non-expanded in rigid products such as CD cases. We are collecting Styrofoam and #6 Plastics and #6 Styrofoam trays. Place the bulk Styrofoam in the large white barrel in the Library, and the #6 Plastics and #6 foam trays in the blue bin in the Library. (Foam trays should have the #6 stamped on the back.)

Quilts that were made by the Montavilla United Methodist Women for the United Methodist Church Conference this year were delivered to the Community Transitional School. The Transitional School began in 1990 to provide education for children Pre-K to Grade 8 for students who are homeless. The school has a highly qualified teaching staff. The school also provides two nutritious meals and door-to-door transportation daily.

If you are interested in being part of our community of women or current events contact the church office for more information.

Mission U
Innovations to Mission u, the organization’s longtime spiritual growth and transformative education program. In spring 2022, Mission u will introduced new curricula for each year—one for children, one for youth and one for adults—all focused on a shared biblical theme. The new Mission u curricula will be more adaptable for use in small groups, local churches, vacation Bible schools, retreats, and other settings. Through these vibrant, relevant, justice-oriented, and biblically centered curricula, Mission u will continue its commitment to learning together for the transformation of the world and expand its impact. Sending birthday greetings to missionaries, deaconesses, UWF staff who share our birth dates.

Holding an in-person Christmas party.
Collecting “undies” for young children at our neighborhood grade school at Christmas – everyone was invited to participate.
Making, dedicating, and delivering quilts to the Transitional School in Portland.
An in-person meeting which included Call to Prayer and Self-Denial and a book report on Indian No More.
We participated in the World Thank Offering.
Our prayer shawl knitting group is the Tabitha Circle.
Many women continue to read, read, read the wonderful UWF Reading Program books. Many of these programs don’t require an actual meeting. Reading, sending birthday greetings, donating to the World Thank Offering can all be done at home. But…keep in touch via phone, text, email, letter – that’s most important!

About United Women in Faith (Formally United Methodist Women)

It started 151 years ago in March by 8 women who raised money to send 2 missionaries to India. One woman was a medical doctor to work with Women’s Health, the other woman a school teacher who then started a school. It was started by one of the forerunners of the United Methodist Church. More Information.

United Women in Faith seeks to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship, and education so that they can inspire, influence and impact local and global communities.

Any woman in a United Methodist Church is a United Women in Faith and can attend any of the meetings, including the pastor, male or female. A person can become an official UWF member by signing up online.
