Welcome to Montavilla UMC! We are a community of people working hard to change our community for the better as we grow to be a more welcoming, socially just community of God-seekers. We seek to provide opportunities for you to experience God in new and meaningful ways, to encounter a community that cares about you, and to know that you are loved and valued, deeply and eternally. We believe deep connection and spiritual enlightenment are important parts of the human experience, and hope that you will find avenues towards connection and enlightenment here. Pastor – Rev. Heather Riggs
Rev. Heather Riggs collects definitions of forgiveness, loves canoeing, and is always up for some “good trouble.”
She received her Masters of Divinity from Claremont School of Theology and is an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church.
Office Manager – Elissa Noble
I love the community at Montavilla United Methodist Church. My favorite thing about being an Office Manager is being accepted and meeting so many different people. I hadn’t been to church in years when I started here, and everyone was kind and made me feel welcomed. I also connect with our neighbors when people rent space in our building and am glad that anyone is welcome at our church.
I enjoy time with my two adult daughters, Gabby and Lindsey, and my fiance’ Kevin. Outside of church I enjoy nature walks, running, playing racquetball, playing games, and hanging out over coffee with friends and family. My background before MUMC was in administrative jobs and social work. I also coached soccer and volunteered at a local church in a variety of roles. I received a degree in sociology at Portland State University.
